But, there is also a bit of a sadness in saying goodbye to being Just Married. And, I'm embarrassingly sad to say that I've come to the end of our wedding day recaps. But, just like every good story, every wedding day also ends. And seeing as how my wedding day ended more than ten months ago, I think its time for me to write this final post.
We got all dressed up, took our pictures (here, here), we said our vows, food was eaten, the cake was cut, and we danced the night away. And before I knew it, the DJ was playing our last song.

I wish I had pictures to show you, so that you could see how magical the last moments were. But, I don't. Our photographer was long gone by then. But, I don't think the pictures would do it justice anyways. Because the magic was not in the aesthetics. It was in the connection between me and Neill.
Neill and I danced together, gripping each other tight. Everything else melted away. We looked into each others eyes and sang to each other
I cannot live, I can't breathe
unless you do this with me
unless you do this with me
I cannot live, I can't breathe
unless you do this with me
unless you do this with me
I cannot live, I can't breathe
unless you do this with me
unless you do this with me
I cannot live, I can't breathe
unless you do this with me
unless you do this with me
I cannot live, I can't breathe
unless you do this with me
unless you do this with me
I cannot live, I can't breathe
unless you do this with me
unless you do this with me
And we just knew. We knew we had gotten the wedding of our dreams. We knew that all the hard work we put into our relationship had given us a strong foundation to start out marriage. We knew that we were in it together, one hundred percent. We knew how lucky we were to be there, at that very moment, together and happy and madly in love. We knew that the future was waiting for us.
Here I am
And here we go
Life's waiting to begin.
Life's waiting to begin.
Thanks so much for letting me share my wedding day with you! It has been so fun to look back on our wedding and I'm even thinking of getting a book made of all of my wedding day posts (read them all here). I know I wouldn't have even thought write this all down if not for you guys, so I'm really grateful to have this blog as an outlet.
Did you and your sweetie share a last dance? What was your last song? What do you remember about the final moments of your wedding reception?
xoxo
Oh my gosh. I have withheld from writing a recap, but you're inspiring me. I tear up just thinking about it- not sad, just..nostalgic. I mean...it flew by. And I want to have another one every year. We didn't have a last dance just as a couple, the DJ kept playing past our time since people were begging for an 'encore'. It was the best. Just the best.
ReplyDeleteI'm seriously considering having a mini, picnic style five year anniversary party, because it was too much fun. And this time around, with a smaller guest list, I'd get to do things more my way and not worry about parents and all that hooplah. We'll see.
We danced to "Save the Last Dance" by Michael Buble for our last dance. It was the perfect end to an amazing night!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so sad to see your wedding day recaps are ending! I loved reading them. I know we got all riled up last night over this so you know already, but I love reading about real couples instead of those perfect, completely styled weddings. I loved yours!
ReplyDeleteThis post actually made me tear up! I just recently became a follower but I went back through and read all your recaps! My goodness girl you were a beautiful bride... I am getting married in 16 days and as excited as I am I know I will be sad to see it come and go!
ReplyDeleteI have such a big smile on my face right now!
ReplyDeleteOur last song was If I Ain't Got You by Alicia Keys. It's one of our songs and we were going to do it for our first dance but I wanted to do We Are Man and Wife by Michelle Featherstone so... we figured out a way to have BOTH songs in our wedding.
Beautiful! We didn't have a last dance, I don't think...? I honestly can't remember, that's not good. Your song choice is perfection!
ReplyDeleteEmma, that sounds like so much fun! I also can't wait to plan a big anniversary party. I'm already imagining the short and sassy white dress I want to wear.
ReplyDeleteJessica - that is so sweet :) I'm a secret Michael Buble fan. His voice is amazing!
Anni, are you trying to insinuate that my wedding wasn't perfectly styled? haha. j/k! I'm sad that they are ending too :( But, I'm so glad someone besides myself enjoyed them! I do have one more music related most up my sleeve though.
Marcy, I can't believe you are getting married in 16 days! That is SO soon! Congrats! You are going to be a stunning bride.
Krysten - I LOVE your song choice!!! Alicia Keys rocks. What a good song to have as one of your songs. Ours is a country song, which just doesn't really fit us. But. we can't help it. It has just always been our song.
Layla - haha. If I'm being honest, I don't remember most of our last dance. I remember the awesome feeling but thats about it. I was worried about Neill getting drunk, but I turned out to be the one that got two sheets to the wind!
I loved my wedding, and the reception was so much fun I didn't want to leave! Sadly it was all kind of ruined when we went out to our car... and it was full of balloons and glitter. The balloons weren't a big deal, but the glitter was (and still IS) everywhere in the car. I don't have AC, so we have to roll down the windows. We were driving to Tennessee the next day, so it made our departure really stressful, trying to clean all of the glitter out of the car before we left. :(
ReplyDeleteI totally understand the feeling sad about not being a newlywed anymore, and I am only almost at 6 months. I don't even remember our last song though - I was tired and looking forward to going! Not that I didn't have a great day, but I was also looking forward to our honeymoon trip.
ReplyDeleteYou look so happy in your pictures, so even though it was 10 months ago - congrats :)
Jessica - oh no! It sounds like something was trying to surprise you in a good way, but didn't think about the difficulty it might cause. My husband saw your comment mentioned to me that he would hate it if someone put glitter in his car!
ReplyDeleteLozzz - Looking forward to a honeymoon is a totally legit reason to not remember the last song! I'm sure I wouldn't remember what our last song was if he hadn't picked it out beforehand :) Congrats to you too!
So sweet.
ReplyDeleteOur last song was a spice girls song, I kid you not. But it was hilarious and perfect. And there was a group hug, also hilarious and perfect.
Next week, we'll hit 7 months. Congrats to your 10!
<3
