Our Invitations

If you've been paying attention, you know that we had a very difficult time deciding on invitations. I must have ordered fifteen different samples - all beautiful in their own way. I was in love with letterpress and sure that it was a must have splurge.

then I woke up and did the math.

once we decided that digital printing was the right route for us, i felt like i had to start the whole search over again! the search was taking so long, that before we realized it we had to order the invites ASAP. so, on somewhat of a whim I (we) made the final decision. Meet our lovelies:

Hello! Lucky was wonderful to work with and we couldn't be happier with how they turned out. I LOVE them!

Now, the RSVPs are starting to roll in and I get giddy every time I open our mailbox. It is like getting a present in the mail every single day!

Thankfully, we ordered matching thank you cards along with our invites so I won't ever have to worry about picking out the right paper products for our wedding ever again!

results are in!

finally, the poll is over! thank you to the 26 of you that were kind enough to vote. I wish I could tell you how many people total visited the blog within this week so I could report some sort of response rate. Looking at my googly analytics, I know it was more than 26 but it is hard to know exactly! Each time I posted it on facebook about 30 people clicked over to the blog on top of the general 10 to 15 that I have everyday. What it doesn't tell me though is if those people were new visitors or maybe people who have already voted.

Anyways, i was going to be all psychology nerd and do a chi square to analyze the results but it is 8:30 in the morning and I just am not feeling that right now. So here are the results:

Urbanity - 50% of the votes (13)
Swirls - 26% of the votes (7)
Find something else - 23% of the votes (6).

Without doing the statistics, i'll say that significantly more people voted for the urbanity invitations than swirls or other. Of those that didn't favor urbanity, about half liked Neill's swirly invitation and half thought we should find something else.

invitations

ok people, i need your help.
we need to figure out our invitations - and soon. i have real work i need to be doing and i just can't stop trolling for wedding invitations. These here, urbanity by bella figura, are the ones i'm leaning towards. It would look just like this - but smaller.

 

Neill is crushing on these swirly spinning lovelies, also from bella figura.

save the dates

Once Neill and I have June 12th for real for real set in stone (aka we fork over the cash), we would eventually also like to send out save the dates. Since the actual wedding invites go out semi close to the wedding, we want to make sure all of our important people know well in advance to keep that day free (assuming they want to come - I suppose its also a heads up to guests who don't want to go that they should schedule something on that day so they can't make it. But who would do that?).

Since our wedding is going to small and we will know everyone who we are inviting (and know them well), I like the idea of sending a personal note to everyone. In fact, it seems sort of silly to just not call people and deliver the news verbally considering we aren't inviting anyone we would feel uncomfortable talking to. But, on the other hand, I definitely see the benefit of having the information written down. And, moreover, I don't want to pass up the cute premade stationary and cards out there like this lovely library themed save the date, by Chicago's own Little Lady Company


What do you think of save the date cards? Are they too impersonal? Are they a waist of paper? Are they useful (and aka a good use of $$)?

Thoughts?

In terms of colors, I'm preliminarily thinking yellow (gold, burnt orange sort of yellow), green (sage green give or take a few shades), and purple (deep royal purple maybe) for colors. So, for example, I would be interested in using the Viva La Violette invites if we could customize the colors. You know? What do you think?
